Confusion in High Places: Police Contradict Muhoozi on Treason Charges Against Bobi Wine

A rare public disagreement has emerged between two of Uganda’s most powerful institutions the Uganda Police and the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba over whether NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) faces treason charges.

While Gen. Muhoozi and some government officials have strongly suggested that Bobi Wine could be charged with treason upon his return, the Police Spokesperson, Kitumwa Rusoke, has clearly stated that no such charges exist against Bobi Wine or any NUP members at this time.

This contradiction has left many Ugandans confused and concerned. When the police and the military appear to be saying different things on such a serious matter, it creates uncertainty at a time when the country is already dealing with post-election tensions.

For ordinary citizens, this highlights how important clear and consistent communication from our institutions really is. It also raises deeper questions about coordination between different arms of government and the need for transparency, especially on issues that affect national stability and individual rights.

As the situation continues to unfold, many are hoping for clarity and calm so that justice can be pursued fairly and without mixed messages.
