Museveni sits down with Masaka leaders and hears doubts about the woman MP result

President Museveni held a closed-door meeting with NRM bigwigs and business people from Greater Masaka on March 11 to get the real story behind the contested Masaka City Woman MP seat. Justine Nameere was declared winner after a recount flipped the initial numbers, but plenty of local leaders still insist the first count was more accurate.

Masaka City NRM chairman Rogers Bulegeya reportedly told the President straight that the process smelled off, complete with claims of security interference and voter bribery caught on video. Other grievances came up too, including land grabbing linked to powerful names. Museveni listened, took notes, and urged everyone to stay calm and let the courts handle it.

The gathering also showed the cracks inside the party: tensions between Nameere and some of her own colleagues were hard to miss. At the end the President asked for a proper report and reminded everyone that unity matters more than public fights. Whether the meeting changes anything remains to be seen, but it is clear the Masaka election drama is far from over.
