As the Ebola outbreak continues to spread in neighboring countries, Uganda has intensified its emergency preparedness measures to prevent the disease from crossing its borders. Yesterday, Nigeria's President Tinubu approved N10bn in funding for the country's Ebola emergency response, highlighting the growing concern over the outbreak. In response, Uganda's health authorities have heightened surveillance and screening at border points, particularly in the western region. The government has also established a task force to coordinate the response efforts, which includes enhancing hygiene and safety measures in public places, schools, and healthcare facilities. With the outbreak showing no signs of slowing down, Uganda's proactive approach aims to minimize the risk of transmission and protect its citizens. The health ministry has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious cases to the authorities immediately.
