Grace Gidudu appointed acting Parliament communications as Obore faces corruption charges

The Ugandan Parliament has appointed Grace Gidudu as the acting Director of Communications, following the suspension of Chris Obore, who is facing corruption charges. Obore, who has been the Director of Communications at Parliament since 2016, was suspended last week after being charged with corruption and abuse of office. Gidudu, who has been serving as the Deputy Director of Communications, will take over the responsibilities of the Director until further notice. The appointment of Gidudu is aimed at ensuring continuity and stability in the communications department, particularly at a time when Parliament is engaging in critical legislative business. The corruption charges against Obore relate to allegations of misusing public funds and violating procurement procedures. The case is currently being investigated by the anti-corruption agency, and Obore has denied any wrongdoing. The development has sparked debate about corruption in public institutions and the need for greater transparency and accountability.
