Nairobi – President William Ruto announced on Thursday that Kenya’s government‑to‑government fuel procurement agreement with Uganda is more advantageous than the bilateral deal Uganda signed with its own regional partners. According to the Ministry of Energy, the Kenyan‑Ugandan pact secures a 12 percent discount on diesel and a 9 percent discount on petrol, with guaranteed supply volumes of 150,000 metric tonnes per year for the next five years. Ruto argued that the transparency and price stability of the Kenyan deal will help curb inflation in both countries, while urging Ugandan officials to review their existing contracts for potential savings.
