This includes standards for products, services, and processes, as well as training and capacity-building programs for stakeholders. By strengthening standards, the UNBS aims to increase consumer confidence, reduce the risk of substandard products, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative is also expected to enhance Uganda’s participation in regional and global trade, as well as attract foreign investment. The UNBS has urged government agencies to prioritize standards development and implementation, and to work together to create a conducive environment for economic growth. The bureau has also encouraged the private sector to play a more active role in standards development, to ensure that standards are relevant and effective in addressing the needs of industry and consumers.
