UNBS rallies gov’t agencies to strengthen standards for Uganda’s economic growth

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has called on government agencies to strengthen standards in the country to promote economic growth. The UNBS has emphasized the importance of standards in facilitating trade, improving quality of life, and enhancing the competitiveness of local industries. The bureau has been working closely with various government agencies to develop and implement standards that meet international best practices. This includes standards for products, services, and processes, as well as training and capacity-building programs for stakeholders. By strengthening standards, the UNBS aims to increase consumer confidence, reduce the risk of substandard products, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative is also expected to enhance Uganda’s participation in regional and global trade, as well as attract foreign investment. The UNBS has urged government agencies to prioritize standards development and implementation, and to work together to create a conducive environment for economic growth. The bureau has also encouraged the private sector to play a more active role in standards development, to ensure that standards are relevant and effective in addressing the needs of industry and consumers.
