Patients at Pajule Health Centre IV have been receiving care without running water for fourteen days after the centre was billed Shs2.6 million for water usage it claims it never incurred. The health facility’s administration says the bill, issued by the district water authority, appears to be a clerical error that has left the centre unable to pay and consequently cut off its supply. Staff have resorted to using bottled water for basic procedures, and the lack of sanitation has raised concerns among public‑health officials about infection control. Local leaders have called on the district council to intervene and audit the billing system. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has dispatched an emergency response team to provide temporary water tanks and ensure that essential services can continue while the dispute is resolved.
