After a decade of senior advisory roles with the World Health Organization and the African Union, Dr. Peter Mwesige is back on the lecture halls of Makerere University’s Faculty of Medicine. The renowned epidemiologist will lead a new course on Global Health Governance, drawing on his experience steering pandemic response strategies across the continent. Students expressed excitement at the prospect of learning from a practitioner who has helped shape health policy during the Ebola and COVID‑19 crises. Dr. Mwesige highlighted his commitment to mentoring the next generation of public‑health leaders and announced plans to launch a community‑based research lab focused on infectious disease surveillance in Uganda.
