St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Naalya has become the center of a heated controversy after video footage emerged showing security personnel forcibly removing three independent political candidates from the school’s premises at approximately 3 a.m. on election day.
The candidates, who were staying overnight to coordinate last‑minute campaign activities, claim they were escorted out without warning, their belongings left in the hallway. The school’s administration issued a brief statement saying the eviction was carried out “in accordance with school policy regarding overnight stays by non‑students.”
Human rights groups have condemned the action as an intimidation tactic, urging the Electoral Commission to investigate whether the school’s actions violated electoral code. The Catholic Diocese of Kampala has launched an internal review, promising transparency and accountability.
