Finance Minister Issues Stern Warning to Accounting Officers at Speke Resort Munyonyo Conference

During a high‑profile conference at the Speke Resort in Munyonyo, Uganda’s Finance Minister, Hon. Matia Kasaija, delivered a forceful admonition to accounting officers across all government ministries. He warned that any involvement in corrupt practices, budgetary abuse, or misallocation of public resources would result in severe disciplinary action, including dismissal and prosecution. The minister highlighted recent scandals involving inflated procurement contracts and urged officers to adopt strict compliance with the Public Finance Management Act. He also announced the rollout of a new digital monitoring system to track expenditures in real time, aiming to curb corruption and improve fiscal discipline.
