The Tooro Kingdom entered a period of official mourning on Wednesday following the announcement that Omukama Oyo Nyimba Iguru, the beloved king of the western Ugandan region, has passed away. Traditional drums and mourning chants filled the royal palace as officials confirmed the king’s death, which is believed to have resulted from complications related to a serious illness. The royal council has called for a three‑day period of mourning, during which flags will fly at half‑mast and cultural ceremonies will be held to honor the late monarch’s contributions to education, health, and the preservation of Tooro heritage.
