Housing Finance Bank Appoints Dorothy Namutebi as Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking

Kampala, Uganda – Housing Finance Bank (HFB) announced today the appointment of veteran banker Dorothy Namutebi as the new Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking, effective immediately. Namutebi brings more than 15 years of experience in retail banking, having previously led the mortgage division at Stanbic Bank Uganda and spearheaded consumer loan initiatives at Barclays Uganda.

In a statement, HFB CEO James Mugisha praised Namutebi’s track record, noting that her strategic vision will be crucial as the bank seeks to expand its mortgage portfolio and deepen financial inclusion across the country. “Dorothy’s deep understanding of the Ugandan market and her commitment to customer‑centric solutions align perfectly with our growth agenda,” Mugisha said.

Namutebi, a graduate of Makerere University with an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, expressed enthusiasm for the role. “I am honored to join HFB at a pivotal time for the housing sector. Together, we will innovate financing solutions that make homeownership attainable for more Ugandans,” she said.

The appointment comes as HFB prepares to launch a new digital mortgage platform aimed at reducing processing times and expanding outreach to underserved regions.
