Kampala – In a televised interview, senior government adviser Moses Kabanda confirmed that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni, has formally announced his intention to contest the 2031 presidential election. Kabanda cited the general’s “track record of service, discipline, and commitment to national development” as the basis for the decision. The announcement has sparked a wave of debate across Uganda’s political spectrum, with opposition parties warning that the move could entrench dynastic rule, while supporters argue it ensures continuity of the current development agenda.
