The Speke Group announced today the acquisition of twelve state‑of‑the‑art speed boats designed to shuttle tourists between the mainland and the newly developed Paradise Island resort. The vessels, built by a Dutch marine engineering firm, can travel at 45 knots and feature eco‑friendly diesel‑electric hybrid engines, reducing emissions by 30 percent compared to conventional boats. The launch coincides with the resort’s scheduled opening in early November, promising to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors daily. Speke Group’s CEO, Laura Mendes, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable tourism, noting that the boats will also serve as floating observation platforms for marine wildlife, enhancing the visitor experience while protecting the surrounding coral reefs.
