Following weeks of speculation about the young king’s schooling, the mother of King Oyo publicly expressed gratitude to Indian philanthropist and tech magnate Sudhir Patel for his generous sponsorship. In a ceremony held at the Oyo Royal Palace, Sudhir presented a scholarship package covering tuition at an elite international academy, as well as a health and wellness fund for the royal household.
The patronage, valued at over $2 million, is part of Sudhir’s broader “Future Leaders” initiative, which aims to support emerging leaders in Africa. The queen mother highlighted how the support will “ensure the king receives a world‑class education while preserving his cultural roots,” and she urged other global benefactors to follow suit in investing in Africa’s next generation.
