Kampala – The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) rolled out an ambitious, data‑centric compliance framework for the 2026/27 fiscal year, aiming to boost revenue collection by 15% and curb tax evasion. The new strategy leverages big‑data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cross‑agency data sharing to identify high‑risk taxpayers, automate risk scoring, and streamline audit selection. URA officials said the system will integrate satellite imagery, mobile money transaction logs, and customs data to create a unified taxpayer profile. Training programs for staff and a public awareness campaign on digital filing are also part of the rollout, which the authority expects will increase voluntary compliance and reduce the compliance cost for businesses.
