Baba TV’s senior management issued an urgent public appeal on Tuesday, calling for the immediate and safe return of their investigative reporter Eria Jjengo, who has been missing for three days. Jjengo, 34, was last seen covering a story on land disputes in the northern region when she failed to check in with her editor. The station’s director, Samuel Kato, urged the authorities to treat the case as a potential kidnapping and to deploy all available resources to locate her. “Eria’s work has always been about giving a voice to the voiceless. We cannot stand by while her safety is jeopardized,” Kato said. Human‑rights groups have also joined the call, warning that journalists in the area face heightened risks amid escalating tensions between local militias and government forces. The police have opened a formal investigation, and Baba TV has pledged to provide a reward for any information leading to her safe return.
