Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development will host the inaugural Mineral Wealth Conference in Kampala from 12‑14 October 2024, inviting multinational mining firms, venture capitalists, and technology providers to explore investment opportunities in the country’s untapped mineral resources. The conference agenda emphasizes value‑addition strategies, such as local processing of gold, cobalt, and rare earth minerals, to boost export revenues and create jobs. Minister Peter Loker highlighted recent discoveries of high‑grade copper‑cobalt deposits in the western region and announced incentives, including tax holidays and streamlined licensing, for companies that commit to building processing plants on Ugandan soil. Over 150 delegates from 30 countries are expected to attend, with side sessions focusing on sustainable mining practices, community engagement, and the role of digital technologies in improving operational efficiency.
