Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development will host the inaugural Mineral Wealth Conference in Kampala from 12‑15 October 2024, targeting international investors, mining companies, and technology providers. The event aims to showcase the country’s untapped deposits of gold, copper, cobalt, and rare earths, while emphasizing a strategic shift toward value‑addition through local processing and beneficiation. Minister Peter Luwaga outlined incentives such as tax holidays, streamlined licensing, and public‑private partnership frameworks to attract capital. Delegates will also hear from the Uganda Investment Authority on infrastructure upgrades, including new rail links and power projects designed to support large‑scale mining operations.
