I&M Group Reports Shs286 b Profit Surge Driven by Ugandan and Regional Operations

Kenyan banking conglomerate I&M Group announced a net profit of Shs286 billion for the fiscal year, a 38 % increase from the previous period. The earnings boost was largely attributed to robust performance in its Ugandan subsidiary, I&M Bank Uganda, which posted a 45 % rise in loan book growth, and to expanding operations in Tanzania and Rwanda. The group also benefited from higher interest margins and a reduction in non‑performing loans. CEO James Mwangi said the results validate the group’s regional diversification strategy and that further investment in digital banking platforms will sustain growth momentum across East Africa.
