Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has criticized the Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS) over the distribution of royalties to musicians. Kenzo, who is the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, expressed his disappointment with the amount of royalties distributed to musicians, saying it was not sufficient. The UPRS recently distributed Shs216 million in royalties to musicians and other copyright holders, but Kenzo argued that the amount was too little considering the revenue generated by the music industry. The controversy has sparked a debate about the music industry in Uganda, with many calling for better management of royalties and more support for local artists. Kenzo's criticism has also highlighted the need for greater transparency in the distribution of royalties and for more to be done to protect the rights of musicians.
