At the recent REDI (Rural Economic Development Initiative) conference in Entebbe, Housing Finance Bank (HFB) delivered a keynote address underscoring the pivotal role of innovative financing in accelerating Uganda’s economic ambitions. CEO Sarah Namutebi highlighted the bank’s new “Growth‑Boost” loan suite, designed to provide affordable credit to small‑scale agribusinesses, renewable‑energy projects, and affordable‑housing developers. She cited recent data showing that access to finance has lifted over 200,000 Ugandans out of extreme poverty in the past three years. The presentation also outlined HFB’s partnership with the Ministry of Finance to pilot a digital lending platform that leverages mobile money and AI‑driven credit scoring, aiming to reach underserved rural populations by 2028.
