MTN Donates Shs100 Million for King Oyo’s Burial; Mbire Praises Monarch’s Enduring Legacy

Telecommunications giant MTN Uganda has contributed Ugandan Shillings 100 million toward the burial expenses of the late King Oyo, the revered cultural leader of the Bunyoro kingdom. The donation was presented to the kingdom’s officials at a solemn ceremony in Hoima, where former Deputy Prime Minister Moses Mbire lauded the king’s “lasting legacy of unity, peace and development.” Mbire noted that King Oyo’s advocacy for education and health services transformed the lives of many Bunyoro citizens. MTN’s chief executive, James Mugisha, said the contribution reflects the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and respect for Uganda’s cultural heritage.
