Telecommunications giant MTN Uganda contributed Shs100 million to the funeral expenses of the late King Oyo, the revered cultural leader of the Bunyoro Kingdom. The donation was presented to the royal household during a solemn ceremony attended by government officials, traditional elders and community members. Mbire, the kingdom’s senior advisor, hailed King Oyo’s “lasting legacy of unity, peace and development” and thanked MTN for its support. The funds will cover burial rites, the construction of a memorial shrine and community projects that the king championed during his reign.
