The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has launched a major power infrastructure upgrade across the districts of Isingiro, Ntungamo and Rukungiri. The project, slated to run for 12 months, will replace aging transformers, extend low‑voltage lines and install new distribution poles, benefitting more than 30,000 consumers. UEDCL officials say the upgrade will reduce outages, improve voltage stability and support local economic activities such as small‑scale agro‑processing. Community leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that reliable electricity is critical for schools, health centres and growing businesses in the region.
