Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo touched down at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, joining a delegation of African leaders preparing for the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi next week. Alupo is expected to meet with Indian officials to discuss trade, investment, and regional security, as well as to promote Uganda’s burgeoning oil sector. In a brief statement, she said, “Our participation underscores Uganda’s commitment to deeper cooperation within the BRICS framework and to fostering stronger ties with India, a key partner in our development agenda.” The visit also includes a side meeting with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to explore opportunities for Ugandan students in Indian universities and for Indian firms in Uganda’s infrastructure projects.
On top of everything as it happens
