Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo touched down in New Delhi on Monday, joining a delegation of African leaders for pre‑summit meetings before the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for September 21‑23 in Johannesburg. Alupo’s agenda includes bilateral talks with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on trade facilitation, as well as discussions on renewable energy cooperation. “Our presence underscores Uganda’s commitment to deepening economic ties within the BRICS framework,” Alupo said in a press briefing. The visit also features cultural exchanges, with Alupo attending a Ugandan dance showcase at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
