Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo touched down in New Delhi on Wednesday, joining a delegation of African leaders for pre‑summit meetings ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for early November in Johannesburg. Alupo’s itinerary includes bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on trade, renewable energy, and agricultural cooperation, as well as a round‑table with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on expanding South‑South partnerships. “Our presence in India underscores Uganda’s commitment to deepening economic ties within the BRICS framework,” Alupo said in a press briefing. Analysts note that Uganda aims to secure investment in its burgeoning solar sector and to boost coffee exports to the Indian market.
