Baba TV Management Appeals for Safety of Missing Journalist Eria Jjengo

Baba TV’s editorial board issued an urgent appeal on Monday, calling on security forces and the public to intensify efforts to locate Eria Jjengo, the network’s senior investigative reporter who vanished while covering a protest in the capital’s outskirts. Jjengo, 34, was last seen on March 12 leaving the protest site after a heated exchange with police. The station’s director, Miriam Okello, warned that the disappearance threatens press freedom and urged the government to launch a transparent investigation. International watchdogs, including the Committee to Protect Journalists, have expressed concern, urging Ugandan authorities to treat the case as a priority and ensure the safety of all journalists operating in volatile environments.
