NSSF Assets Rise to Shs32.8 Trillion as Income Hits Shs6.51 Trillion

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) announced a remarkable financial performance for the fiscal year ending June 2024, with total assets climbing to Shs32.8 trillion, up 12% from the previous year. Net income surged to Shs6.51 trillion, driven by strong returns on its diversified investment portfolio, including real‑estate, infrastructure, and equity markets. The fund’s chief executive, David Kaggwa, highlighted the importance of prudent risk management and the recent acquisition of a 15% stake in a regional renewable‑energy project. Analysts predict that the robust asset base will enable NSSF to increase pension payouts and fund new social‑welfare initiatives, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Uganda’s social safety net.
