Trump Withdraws Former Oklahoma Trooper Lance Schroyer as ICE Nominee

President Donald J. Trump announced on Thursday that he is withdrawing his nomination of Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma State Trooper, to serve as the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The decision follows a wave of bipartisan criticism over Schroyer’s past statements on immigration enforcement and alleged involvement in controversial raids. In a brief statement, the White House said the administration will “continue to seek a qualified leader who can uphold the rule of law while respecting human rights.” Schroyer’s withdrawal marks the second high‑profile ICE nomination to be scrapped during the current term.
