Baba TV’s executive board issued an urgent public appeal on Tuesday, urging authorities and the community to intensify efforts to locate journalist Eria Jjengo, who has been missing for six days while covering a protest in the northern region. The network highlighted Jjengo’s exemplary record of unbiased reporting and stressed the risks journalists face in volatile areas. In a statement, Baba TV’s Managing Director, Samuel Kato, called for a coordinated search operation, offering the station’s resources and a reward of Shs5 million for information leading to her safe return. Human Rights Watch and the Uganda Journalists’ Union have also condemned the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, urging the police to treat the case as a priority and to protect press freedom in the country.
