After a quarter‑century of uncertainty, the remains of Barbara Keating, a 31‑year‑old financial analyst who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, have been identified and interred at Arlington National Cemetery. The identification was made possible by a combination of DNA testing and forensic facial reconstruction, conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in collaboration with the 9/11 Victim Identification Task Force. Keating’s family, who have been advocating for closure for years, held a private ceremony attended by close relatives, a military honour guard, and a representative of the 9/11 Families’ Association. In her memory, a small plaque bearing her name and a quote from her favorite poet, Maya Angelou, now marks her gravesite, offering a place of solace for loved ones and a reminder of the enduring human cost of that tragic day.
