Muhoozi Yoweri Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni and a leading figure in Uganda’s ruling party, lauded the recent endorsement of Sudhir Kumar, a prominent Indian business magnate, for the upcoming 2031 presidential race. Muhoozi described Kumar’s support as “a testament to Uganda’s growing appeal to global investors and a signal that the nation’s political stability will continue under the next administration.” The endorsement, announced at a Nairobi summit on African-Asian economic cooperation, has sparked speculation that Kumar may become a key financial backer for the ruling coalition, potentially channeling billions of dollars in infrastructure and technology projects. Opposition leaders, however, warned that foreign endorsements could undermine Uganda’s sovereignty and called for stricter campaign finance regulations before the next election cycle.
