Kampala, Uganda – Housing Finance Bank (HFB) announced today that veteran banking professional Dorothy Namutebi will take the helm of its Mortgages and Consumer Banking division, effective immediately. Namutebi, who brings over 15 years of experience in retail banking and mortgage lending, succeeds John Mukasa, who is moving to a strategic advisory role within the bank. In a statement, HFB’s CEO, James Kintu, praised Namutebi’s track record of expanding loan portfolios and improving customer experience. “Dorothy’s deep understanding of the Ugandan housing market and her commitment to financial inclusion make her the ideal leader to drive our growth agenda,” Kintu said. Namutebi, who previously led the mortgage division at a regional bank, said she looks forward to “building affordable home‑ownership solutions for Ugandans and strengthening our consumer banking services.” The appointment comes as HFB seeks to increase its mortgage market share, which currently sits at roughly 12% of the national total.
