Housing Finance Bank (HFB) announced a new sustainability roadmap aimed at integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into every facet of its operations. The plan includes a $150 million green‑bond issuance to fund energy‑efficient housing projects, a target to reduce the bank’s carbon footprint by 40 % by 2030, and the launch of a dedicated ESG advisory unit for corporate clients.
Bank officials said the initiative is designed to create long‑term value for shareholders while addressing Uganda’s growing housing deficit and climate challenges. HFB will also partner with local NGOs to promote financial literacy and affordable mortgage products for low‑income families, positioning the bank as a leader in sustainable finance in the region.
