Nairobi – Housing Finance Bank (HFB) announced a series of green financing initiatives aimed at bolstering sustainable development across Kenya’s real‑estate sector. The bank will launch a €200 million green mortgage line, offer lower interest rates for energy‑efficient homes, and partner with local NGOs to fund community‑based renewable‑energy projects. HFB’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Aisha Mwangi, said the move aligns with the bank’s long‑term value creation plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Early pilots in Nairobi’s Eastlands district have already shown a 15 % reduction in household energy costs.
