Kampala, Uganda – Housing Finance Bank (HFB) announced a new suite of green financing products aimed at accelerating Uganda’s transition to low‑carbon construction. The bank will now offer preferential loan rates for developers that meet International Finance Corporation (IFC) green building standards, and it has pledged to offset 30 % of its operational carbon footprint by 2028 through reforestation projects in the Albertine Rift. HFB’s CEO, Sarah Nanyanzi, said the initiative aligns with the bank’s 2030 strategy to embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria across all credit lines, positioning the institution as a catalyst for sustainable urban growth while protecting long‑term shareholder value.
