London – After nearly ten months in custody, high‑society figure Bryan White was released on bail on Tuesday following a magistrate’s decision that his prolonged detention without a committal hearing was unlawful. White, 42, was originally arrested in December on suspicion of fraud and money‑laundering linked to a luxury property development scheme. Human rights groups had criticised the case for breaching the right to a speedy trial. The bail conditions include a £100,000 cash surety, a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and a restriction on contacting any co‑defendants. White’s legal team hailed the ruling as a “vindication of due process,” while prosecutors said they will seek a new committal hearing within the next fortnight.
