Kampala, Uganda – In a heartfelt video posted on social media, Ugandan business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia expressed his deep sympathy for the people of Nepal following the unprecedented floods that have devastated large swathes of the country. The floods, triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains, have claimed over 150 lives and displaced thousands.
Ruparelia, founder of the Ruparelia Group, pledged to mobilise resources from his conglomerate to assist in relief efforts. “Our thoughts are with every Nepali family affected by this tragedy. We stand with you and are ready to support the humanitarian response in any way we can,” he said. He also announced a partnership with the Nepal Red Cross Society to channel donations of food, clean water, and medical supplies.
The message was welcomed by Nepalese officials, who thanked the Ugandan tycoon for his generosity and called for a coordinated regional response to the disaster. The Ruparelia Group has a history of philanthropy in East Africa, and this latest initiative underscores its growing role in cross‑border humanitarian aid.
