Uganda Calls Global Investors to Mineral Wealth Conference, Emphasizes Value‑Addition in Mining

Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development is hosting a Mineral Wealth Conference in Kampala next month, inviting multinational mining firms, venture capitalists, and technology providers to explore investment opportunities. The government’s agenda focuses on moving beyond raw‑material export to value‑added processing, such as refining rare earths, gold, and tantalum domestically. Officials outlined incentives, including tax holidays, streamlined licensing, and partnerships with local universities for research and workforce training. The conference aims to attract at least $2 billion in new projects over the next five years, positioning Uganda as a regional hub for mineral processing and downstream manufacturing.
