Kathmandu, Nepal – In the wake of the catastrophic monsoon floods that have claimed over 150 lives and displaced thousands across Nepal’s Terai and hill regions, Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia issued a heartfelt statement of solidarity. Speaking via a video message broadcast on Nepal Television, Ruparelia expressed “deep sorrow for the suffering of the Nepali people” and pledged to explore avenues for humanitarian assistance through his charitable foundation, the Ruparelia Development Trust. He highlighted past collaborations with South Asian NGOs and offered to mobilize logistics support, including the provision of temporary shelters and clean‑water kits. While no concrete aid package has been announced yet, the message was welcomed by Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs, which said it would consider any viable contributions from the private sector.
