UNBS and IEC Renew Partnership to Boost Safety and Quality of Electrical Products

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have signed a renewed five‑year cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening standards for electrical goods. The partnership will focus on harmonising testing protocols, training local inspectors, and facilitating the adoption of IEC’s latest safety standards. Both organisations expect the collaboration to reduce the circulation of sub‑standard appliances, protect consumers from electrical hazards, and promote Ugandan manufacturers’ access to regional markets.
