The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) publicly backed the government’s Ganyegenya road construction operation on Thursday, describing it as a vital step toward modernizing the country’s transport network. In a press conference, UPC spokesperson Sarah Namatovu urged the Ministry of Works to adopt a broader, integrated national transport strategy that includes road, rail, and inland waterway upgrades. She highlighted the project’s potential to boost trade in the northern region and reduce travel times for commuters. The party also called on Parliament to allocate additional funding to ensure the timely completion of the Ganyegenya corridor.
