Former Koboko Speaker George Ambe Dies After 16 Days in ICU

George Ambe, the former speaker of the Koboko District Council, passed away on Sunday after a 16‑day stay in the intensive care unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. Ambe, 68, was admitted following complications from a severe respiratory infection. Colleagues remembered him as a tireless advocate for rural development and a key figure in the district’s push for improved infrastructure. The district council announced a period of mourning and will hold a state funeral next week. His family released a statement thanking the medical staff for their dedication and asking for privacy during this difficult time.
