Kampala, Uganda – Sedes Sapientiae Academiae (SSA) emerged as the overall champion at the 11th Stanbic National Schools Championship held at the National Stadium this weekend, securing a total of 12 gold medals across athletics, swimming, and team sports.
The school’s standout performances came from its track and field squad, which swept the 100m, 200m, and 400m events for both boys and girls. In the swimming pool, SSA’s junior swimmers broke two national junior records in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
Headmaster Father Joseph Kintu praised the dedication of the students and coaches, noting that “the success reflects years of disciplined training, community support, and the school’s commitment to holistic education.” The victory also earned SSA a cash prize of UGX 5 million from Stanbic Bank, which will be reinvested into the school’s sports facilities.
The championship, now in its eleventh edition, brings together over 150 schools from across Uganda and serves as a talent‑identification platform for national youth teams.
