Kampala – The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) announced a comprehensive inspection campaign targeting the People’s Development Movement (PDM) and Emyooga agricultural initiatives, as well as the ongoing cattle restocking scheme in the Teso and Lango districts. The inspection, set to begin next week, aims to verify that funds allocated under the national “One‑District‑One‑Program” are being used appropriately and that livestock distribution meets the standards outlined in the 2023‑2024 budget. Officials will deploy a task force of auditors, veterinary officers, and civil society observers to assess project documentation, livestock health, and beneficiary selection processes. Minister of Agriculture Dr. Frank Tumwebaze warned that any irregularities could result in the suspension of funding and possible legal action against corrupt officials. Community leaders in Kaberamaido and Amuria have welcomed the move, citing concerns over missing cattle and delayed payments to farmers.
