Kampala – The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives confirmed on Wednesday that Uganda has secured a multi‑year agreement with South Korea’s largest coffee importer, Busan Coffee Co., to ship more than 3,500 metric tonnes of Arabica beans each year. The contract, valued at approximately $120 million, will see the first shipment leave the Port of Mombasa in early November, bound for Busan’s state‑of‑the‑art processing facilities. Ugandan coffee growers are expected to benefit from a guaranteed floor price of $2.80 per kilogram, a 15 % increase over the current market average. The deal also includes a joint training program for Ugandan farmers on sustainable cultivation practices, funded by the Korean government’s overseas development assistance program.
