Barbara Keating, 9/11 Victim, Finally Laid to Rest After Decades of Uncertainty

NEW YORK – After more than 25 years of searching, the remains of Barbara Keating, a 38‑year‑old accountant from Stamford, Connecticut, have finally been identified and laid to rest in a solemn ceremony at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday. Keating was among the nearly 3,000 victims who perished when the World Trade Center towers collapsed on September 11, 2001. Her family, who had long hoped for closure, received the news following a DNA match conducted by the FBI’s Victims Identification Project, which used advanced genetic genealogy techniques. In a moving service attended by family, friends, and first‑responders, a military honor guard presented a folded flag, and a eulogist highlighted Keating’s dedication to community service and her love for music.
