Ugandan opposition leaders Dr. Kizza Besigye and Councillor Robert Lukwago were forced to cancel a scheduled meeting with General Saleh, the commander of the national security forces, after both reported severe flu‑like symptoms. Sources close to the politicians said the two are undergoing treatment at Mulago Hospital and are expected to recover within a week. The meeting, which was to discuss electoral reforms and police accountability, will be postponed. Analysts suggest the delay could impact the momentum of ongoing reform campaigns ahead of the upcoming local elections.
